Welcome and induction 2022/23
Each Academic Year has three terms (Terms 1, 2 and 3 respectively). These begin in September, January and May each academic year. The start dates are listed on the webpage below:
At UWS, Welcome and Induction activities are scheduled to run alongside the start of each academic term. For a full range of Welcome and Induction activities, check out the calendars on this page for each course in your academic school.
Please note that if the activities have already taken place (that is, if you are looking at these calendars some weeks after the scheduled activities have taken place), then the calendars may appear to be empty. They will be repopulated for the next academic term though.
The purpose of Welcome and Induction activities
Welcome and Induction is a really important beginning to your studies at UWS. You will finish your enrolment, engage with your school and programme, find out about the range of services that we offer you to support your journey and be introduced to your Students’ Union. You'll also find a range of top tips to help you with your studies as well as have the opportunity to begin building friendship networks with other students.
Getting the chance to meet academics and fellow students on your programme is a key aspect of Welcome and Induction and this year will be no different. University-wide and school/programme specific induction activities are being planned to be as interactive as possible in order that you can engage fully with all members of the UWS community.
You can find out more about each aspect of Welcome and Induction below with live timetables available to view. Please consult these for the most up-to-date info on what activities are taking place and how to join them.
