UWS OUT OF HOURS STUDENT HELPLINE
Health Assured offers students a free, confidential advice line, with help available to talk through any problem, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our helpline is confidential. Qualified counsellors and advisors understand the pressures of student life and are there to help any student who needs it. Sometimes, talking through your issues with someone in the moment can be helpful.

MY HEALTHY ADVANTAGE APP
The Student Assistance Programme also offers a range of free support services which you can access through the My Healthy Advantage app, providing holistic health and wellbeing support at the tap of a finger anywhere and anytime.

It will then ask you to create your unique log in data.

GETTING HELP IN AN EMERGENCY
In the rare event that you or someone you know needs help for a mental health crisis, or breakdown, you should get immediate expert advice and assessment. An emergency could include attempted suicide, serious self-harm or harm to others, or situations where you feel you lack a sense of self-control, personal responsibility, or safety.
In an emergency, call 999.

If your situation feels urgent but is not an emergency (see above) there are several options available:

OUT OF HOURS NHS SERVICES
If you are:
- feeling distressed
- in a state of despair
- suicidal
- in need of emotional support
you can call NHS 24 on 111.
NHS 24 mental health services are available to everyone in Scotland. The services on offer include listening, offering advice, and guiding to further help if required.

FREE LISTENING SERVICES
- Breathing Space: 0800 83 85 87. They also have a webchat option. Their opening times are 6pm-2am Monday-Thursday and Friday 6pm - 6am Monday.
- Call 116 123 to talk to Samaritans 24/7, or email: jo@samaritans.org for a reply within 24 hours.
- Text "STUDENT" to 85258 to contact the Shout Crisis Text Line, or text "YM" to the same number if you are under 19 for support from Young Minds.
- If you are under 19, you can also call 0800 1111 to talk to Childline on their 24 hours helpline. The number will not appear on your phone bill.
- Text THEMIX to 85258 to contact the Mix
- If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, phone Hopeline UK on 0800 068 41 41. Available every day of the year from 9am-midnight.
- Call the CALM helpline on 0800 58 58 58. Available every day of the year between 5pm and midnight.
