A launchpad for global music careers is to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a major awards ceremony.
EuroGig, which launched in the 1996-97 academic year, involves a cross-Europe network of six different partners. It is led by University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and supported by Glasgow City Council.
The ceremony to mark 25 years of EuroGig will be held at Glasgow City Chambers on Friday 4 March.

Allan Dumbreck, Senior Lecturer of Music, Art, Performance and International Development at UWS, said: “EuroGig has grown from a single exchange between Glasgow and Germany to become a key building block in the careers of promising young talent not only in Scotland, but across Europe.
“The fact that we are celebrating 25 years of EuroGig highlights how successful it has been in not only providing participants with industry interaction and valuable experience, but providing them with a genuine launchpad, as they look to establish themselves in a highly competitive industry.”
More than 1000 young people from 10 different nations have benefited from EuroGig; gaining opportunities to perform in a different country; co-ordinate events, and assist with technical support; and earn valuable international experience.

The project has given artists the chance to perform at major European festivals, helping them build a fanbase; while EuroGig event managers – all students – have gone on to work for key music industry players such as TRNSMT, Glastonbury and DF Concerts.
EuroGig involves partner organisations from France, Belgium, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands; many of which will attend the celebratory awards ceremony this week.
Carsten Langenbach, CEO of the Immecke Festival and EuroGig partner in Germany, said: “This exchange is a vital part of our international activity. We are delighted to have changed the lives of so many young Europeans over the last 25 years.”
