The visit came ahead of a circus-themed charity event which Provost Cameron hosted at Mar Hall Golf and Spa Resort on Friday 5 October 2018 for MND Scotland. The ball saw invited guests come together for a night of music and entertainment to raise money for those caring for, and living with, the life-limiting disease in Scotland.
To complement the ball’s circus theme, University of the West of Scotland loaned Provost Cameron its ‘Pride of Paisley’ lion statue for the evening.
UWS’ lion, named Rainforest and designed by artist Ruth .E. Green, was initially part of Paisley First’s public art trail during the town’s bid for UK City of Culture for 2021. The campaign saw 25 colourful lions spread across Renfrewshire, which were later auctioned to raise funds for selected charities.
