UWS BSc (Hons) Computer Games Technology graduate, Floyd M Chitalu has benefited from the University’s career focused approach to teaching.
Floyd M Chitalu’s first two years at UWS armed him with a wealth of knowledge in computer games technology. But Floyd says it was the chance to apply this academic knowledge to the real world that proved most valuable.
As part of his sandwich degree Floyd spent a year in industry with Codeplay Software, an Edinburgh-based company that specialises in developing software for heterogeneous systems. He left with a deeper understanding of his subject and glowing references that set him apart in the employment market.
Looking back, I can only appreciate the great blessing that it was to have studied at UWS – it is through their cumulative acts of care and dedication that I am where I am, and have achieved what I have today.Floyd M Chitalu, BSc (Hons) Computer Games Technology graduate
Floyd is now based at the University of Edinburgh completing a Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) course – a programme that combines a one-year Masters with a three-year PhD in Computer Science. His research relates to real-time simulation of soft deformable meshes using continuum mechanics on graphics processing units (GPUs).
