UWS has signed a deal with Renfrew Football Club as part of the University’s commitment to supporting local organisations at the heart of its campus communities.
Professor Craig Mahoney, Principal & Vice Chancellor of UWS visited the club’s grounds at New Western Park to meet with Eleanor McNish, President of Renfrew FC and Tom Johnston, Vice President, to view the University’s advertising hoardings which have been erected at the stadium.
Renfrew FC has been a staple part of the Renfrewshire community since 1912, and over the years, has grown to include a ladies team, two amateur teams, two under 21-teams, an under-11 girls team, and nine youth teams for those between the ages of five and 17.
The club, which is a self-funding, non-profit organisation, is run by a group of volunteers who are also responsible for the management of the sporting venue in Renfrew.
UWS is proud to be supporting Renfrew FC, a club which means so much to many people in the community that our University is part of. The club works extremely hard to promote sport to people of all ages, which is something I’m incredibly passionate about.
It was great to visit the stadium, not only to see our boards in situ, but to speak to some of the key members of Renfrew FC to understand the real, positive impact the club has on the area of Renfrewshire. It’s important the University gets behind the people and organisations working hard to make a difference in our local areas. We are thrilled to be working with Renfrew FC.
