University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has climbed eight places in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide for 2019, to become Scotland’s highest-ranked modern university.

UWS’ overall UK rankings jumped from joint 100th previously to 92nd in the latest edition of the league table, which has also seen the University place ninth in Scotland, making it the country’s leading Post-92 university*.

University of the West of Scotland has excelled in the Good University Guide’s metrics, ranking in the top three of Scottish universities for teaching excellence, and in the top five for student experience and graduate prospects.

It comes after UWS recently launched its new, cutting-edge Lanarkshire campus, which represents a step-change in the way learning and teaching is delivered in higher education in Scotland.

Professor Craig Mahoney, Principal & Vice-Chancellor at UWS, said: “Our performance in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019 is fantastic news and testament to the hard work and commitment of colleagues and students across the institution."

“Our ambition is to be a 21st century university which provides student-centred, personalised and distinctive, learning and teaching experiences. I’m immensely proud that we’ve become the highest-ranked modern university in Scotland. It’s a significant achievement for us as a University, and I’d like to both congratulate and thank everyone at UWS and our partners in achieving this important milestone.”
UWS Principal Prof. Craig Mahoney
