A UWS Professor has received the 2021 Outstanding Book Award by the American Society of Criminology.
Professor Ross Deuchar’s book, Police Community Relations in Times of Crisis, was written by Ross and two colleagues from Florida Atlantic University.
The book examines how the policing of gangs and violence has changed in the post-Ferguson era, drawing on participant observation field notes and in-depth interviews with officers, offenders, practitioners, and community members in a Southern American state.
I’m absolutely delighted and feel completely honoured to receive this award. I’d like to pay tribute to my amazing co-authors, Drs Vaughn Crichlow and Seth Fallik, who are outstanding researchers and meticulous academic writers, and to the Fulbright Commission for funding the research underpinning the book.
