University of the West of Scotland’s sustainable credentials have been recognised once again, with the institution reaching the finals of this year’s Green Gown Awards.
The University has been shortlisted in the Sustainability Institution of the Year category. You can view all the finalists here.
The Green Gown Awards UK & Ireland, in association with UKRI, recognise the innovative and inspiring sustainability work carried out by colleges and universities across the UK and Ireland, representing over 850,000 students and 130,00 staff.
The prestigious awards, organised by EAUC, are leading the way with their commitment to the global sustainability agenda, proving the value that further and higher education institutions bring to the economy and society.
Reflecting on this year’s submissions, Iain Patton, CEO, EAUC said: “It’s safe to say everything has turned upside down this year. But what is remarkable, is the pure determination and resilience shown by our sector.
“Receiving so many applications from our sustainability communities in this challenging year, and reading their inspiring projects is truly heart-warming in these uncertain times and builds hope for a green recovery and more sustainable future.”
The 2020 Green Gown nomination is the latest nod towards UWS’s sustainability credentials, with the University also being shortlisted in the Guardian University Awards’ Sustainability category earlier this year.
Last year, UWS took home the title of Campus of the Future at the Green Gown Awards, and also won the award of Buildings that Inspire at the 2019 Guardian University awards.
The winners of this year’s Green Gown Awards will be announced in a virtual ceremony on 24 March.
