Course content
This Certified Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt) qualification comprises a number of modules delivered intensively over 5 days.

- Hypothesis Testing
The course also includes:
- Statistics for Black belts
- Introduction to Minitab
as well as an in-class Lean Six Sigma DMAIC project.
Assessment
Learning will be evaluated via a 90 minute open book examination.
Candidates must achieve a minimum of 60% to attain the Black Belt Certification.
Course Tutors
Dr Alex Douglas
Alex has been training, researching and consulting on Lean Six Sigma for over 10 years. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a Fellow of the Institute of Six Sigma Professionals for whom he is an accredited trainer. Alex has trained hundreds of students/candidates to Yellow, Green and Black Belt levels in the UK and East Africa where he has delivered Yellow, Green and Black Belt courses programmes to people and organisations across a broad spectrum of industrial sectors including manufacturing, services, financial services, supermarkets, telecommunications, power generation, education and training and agriculture. (Dr Alex Douglas will only be involved in the delivery of the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course).
Dr Michele Cano
Michele is a mechanical and manufacturing engineer and senior lecturer
specialising in quality and project management with over 20 years’ experience within multidisciplinary environments. Her research interests include lean manufacturing, quality management and business improvement. She has provided consultancy and CPD training courses for the manufacturing, food and drink and public sectors and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. As founder and programme leader for the MSc in Quality and Project Management, her specialist areas of teaching include quality management, lean manufacturing and lean six sigma, change management and project management. Michele currently sits on the ‘Future of Work’ Advisory Panel for the Chartered Quality Institute and is a reviewer for journals and conferences in quality and lean six sigma.
Dr Farhad Anvari
Farhad has over 20 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry with a wide range of expertise in Engineering Management such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality and Kaizen. He holds degrees in Electronic, Industrial and Mechanical Engineering and is a certified ISO 9000 Assessor and a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Farhad has provided training and implementation methods in areas of Maintenance Engineering, Quality and Project Management and Hoshin Kanri. His current research activities include Through-life Engineering, Industry 4.0 and Sustainable Operations. (Dr Farhad Anvari will not be involved in the delivery of the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course).
