Our International Research Summer School is designed to prepare you for doctoral study and boost your research and employability skills.
Over two weeks you will receive intensive tuition that will support you in making the transition to study at PhD level. You will have international research opportunities including access to world-leading experts and state-of-the-art resources.

As well as preparing you to take on a research doctorate you will also receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Based at our Paisley Campus you will be ideally located to visit many of Scotland’s top tourist attractions and you will have time to find out more about Scotland.
In addition we run a programme of activity for IRSS students which normally includes organised visits to Glasgow and Edinburgh, a tour of a Scotch whisky distillery and a trip to the stunning Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
Attendance at the International Research Summer School works out as a cost-effective way to add new skills and qualifications and help you to successfully transition into PhD-level study. The cost for the International Research Summer School in 2017 is £1,700 which includes tuition fees, accommodation in our new Paisley Halls of Residence and organised trips and excursions.
The International Research Summer School is for international students who have completed undergraduate study to Honours degree level, and who hold qualifications to be eligible to take part in PhD study in the UK.
If you live outside the EU and English is not your first language you will require IELTS 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent (applicants who do not currently meet this level of English language competence will still be considered for entry onto the IRSS)
If you live outside the EU you will have to apply for a UK Visa.
