University of the West of Scotland's Hamilton campus is located in the centre of Scotland's fifth largest town.
Work is underway to create a new UWS Lanarkshire Campus at Hamilton International Technology Park, on the outskirts of Hamilton, just two miles from the existing site. The new campus will give UWS students access to some of the most advanced and technologically enabled learning environments in the UK with outstanding academic, social and leisure facilities available from September 2018.
Combining the best of town and country living, the campus and surrounding area offer plenty of entertainment options and extra-curricular activities. Teaching and study facilities at the campus in Hamilton include :
A suite of simulated environments allows students to learn nursing practice in a realistic context. Top of the range software creates simulated clinical wards. Midwifery equipment includes a birthing room and birthing pool for simulated births.
The Centre for Engineering Excellence focuses on product design and engineering. Product design computer laboratories include industry-leading Pro-Engineer Wildfire Design and Simulation software. The design studio is equipped with model-making and prototyping facilities.
The well-equipped library has 160 study spaces, open access computer facilities, photocopy machines, wifi access and a range of resources including 80,000 books and 1,000 journals.
Wifi is available throughout the campus to ensure students have free, unlimited access to their email and the internet. A partnership with Microsoft – the Microsoft Campus Agreement – allows access to the latest Microsoft products for use on personal computers, on or off campus.
Run by the Students' Association, the Union includes a licensed bar, pool tables & coffee lounge. Entertainment throughout the year, includes band nights, DJs, themed parties and the chance to join a range of clubs & societies. The Association also operates 2 campus shops, open during trimester.
Facilities include a well-equipped gym with cardio & strength resistance machines and games hall for team sports. Activities and clubs include badminton, basketball, netball, table tennis, tae kwon-do, volleyball and 5-a-side. Use of local football pitches available .
The campus has a hall of residence with guaranteed places for first-year students. Located on Barrack Street opposite the main campus building, the site is staffed 24 hours, 7 days per week providing residents with a safe environment to live, learn and relax. It accommodates 156 students in single study bedrooms within shared flats.
Some flats are adapted for residents with disabilities. Students also have access to laundry facilities onsite.
Prices start from £85*per week. Prices are inclusive of bedding pack, electricity and contents insurance cover.
