The University of the West of Scotland's Lanarkshire Campus is located at Hamilton International Technology Park, with more than 80 local businesses. It is well served by public transport links. UWS supports and encourages students to make sustainable travel choices for their journey to Lanarkshire Campus wherever possible.
If you live within 2 miles of Lanarkshire Campus, or are alighting the train at Blantyre, we would encourage staff and students to get fit by walking. If you live a bit further away, you could cycle to campus.
Active commuters will be supported with 100 cycle parking spaces, with enhanced cycle provision and repair kits and tools in a secure compound. Shower facilities on every floor of each building will allow all active commuters to freshen up before their day begins. We are also working with South Lanarkshire Council to improve walking & cycling routes and are investigating a bike hire scheme to facilitate more cycling to and from Campus.
Sustrans are an organisation that maintain national cycle routes in the UK. Enter the Lanarkshire Campus postcode (G72 0LH) into the Sustrans map to see routes that take you close to the campus. Cycle parking, shower facilities and lockers are available throughout the campus.
The UWS Lanarkshire Campus is well served by public transport links. There are bus stops within close proximity to the campus serviced by a number of buses (201, 205, 226 and 250) and Blantyre train station is within a 40-minute walk of the campus and also served by the 205 bus.
There are currently two bus links utilising the campus bus stop - the First Bus U1 (Hamilton to campus) and the Stagecoach X16 service which runs from Ayr to Hamilton via East Kilbride which now makes a stop at the UWS Lanarkshire bus station on Technology Avenue.
Timetables for local bus and rail services will be available at the campus welcome desk and are available online. Bus services include 201, 205, 226 and 250, U1, X16.
Alternatively, you can plan your walking, cycling or public transport route with Google Maps or Traveline Scotland.
The Lanarkshire campus has ample car parking – shared between staff and students. If you intend to drive, please consider car sharing. As well as saving carbon it will reduce your fuel costs - typical savings are around £700 a year from Motherwell and nearly £1400 from Glasgow City Centre.
As well as decreasing carbon emissions, car-sharing significantly reduces fuel costs. The UWS journey share scheme can help you find someone to share your journey with.
