University of the West of Scotland's new £81 million Ayr Campus, which opened in August 2011, creates a truly innovative learning environment for students. The campus, which was developed by UWS in partnership with Scottish Agricultural College (SAC), is situated on the Craigie Estate, next to the River Ayr.
Developed in consultation with Historic Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Scottish Wildlife Trust, the new Campus provides Ayrshire with one of the UK’s most modern, environmentally friendly and sustainable Higher Education learning environments. The campus design was inspired by the area’s woodland surroundings and offers students a stunning space for study. Some of Scottish higher education’s finest facilities with suites, studios and laboratories for performance, music, broadcasting, education and healthcare.

- a library housing an impressive range of resources and facilities
- brand-new student accommodation composed of 200 en-suite bedrooms grouped in student flats, with shared lounge, kitchen and dining areas and with communal lounge and laundry facilities

New Residences Development
As part of our £81 million Ayr Campus development, the University commissioned a new student residence close to the main University building in picturesque woodland.
With 200 bed spaces, the residence includes en-suite student bedrooms with communal kitchen/living facilities. The rooms provide space for a larger than average bed, a desk and carefully planned storage. A management suite, student lounge and laundry are also contained within the residence. All open plan spaces and communal areas within the building benefit from clear views of the surrounding greenery. And the University building is only a few minutes walk away.
