Centre for African Research on Enterprise and Economic Development (CAREED) 

The 10th Annual CAREED Anniversary Conference (Hybrid Format) 

Dates: Thursday 25 – Friday 26 June 2026 

Venue: University of the West of Scotland – Paisley Campus & virtual 

Theme of Conference: Intra-African Trade Ecosystem for Prosperity: A Blueprint for Global Sustainability and Economic Development 

Aligning with the University of the West of Scotland’s contribution to the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda, Africa’s Agenda 2063 serves as Africa’s strategic roadmap for overcoming socioeconomic hurdles. By refocusing and reprioritising the continent's development goals, it moves the continent toward a positive, self-reliant future within the global ecosystem. At the UWS, the Centre for African Research on Enterprise and Economic Development (CAREED) hosts annual conferences that contribute to this transformative conversation, fostering impactful research and innovation that addresses African development priorities.  

Structure 

Day 1 of conference (Thursday 25th June) will be physical (in-person) and mainly for our 10th year anniversary. It will be limited to our invited guests only. Interested academics are welcome to join us online.  

Day 2 of conference (Friday 26th June) will be virtual (online) and is for all other registered delegates to present papers.        

Conference Fees 

External Physical delegates = 250GBP 

Fee per paper = 50GBP 

PhD students = 50GBP
