English Language Support

The University offers in-sessional English language support for all students studying on its degree programmes. This is offered in two ways:

  • English language modules
  • Academic English support sessions

English language modules are 20-credit modules which require weekly attendance.

The modules available are:

  • Advanced English 1 and 2 (level 9)
  • English for Academic Purposes (level 9)
  • Business English 3.1 and 3.2 (level 9)
  • English Proficiency 1 and 2 (level 10)

Erasmus exchange students are entitled to one free English language module in addition to the modules which are part of their degree programme. For other students, a limited number of free places on English language modules is available.

English language support sessions offer help with Academic English skills such as presentations, written assignments, or exam preparation. These sessions are free of charge and scheduled for delivery at Paisley, Ayr, and Lanarkshire campuses on specific dates during the trimester.

For timetables, module fees, and how to register for modules and support sessions, please contact Englishlanguage@uws.ac.uk
