University of the West of Scotland is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Robert MacIntosh to the role of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation).
Following an extensive and rigorous recruitment process, Robert will join UWS from Northumbria University, where he has been Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Business and Law since 2021.

Robert has extensive experience in higher education, having also held senior positions at Heriot-Watt University, University of Glasgow, and University of Strathclyde.
His academic background is in the field of strategic management, which has been put into practical use in both higher education and beyond. He also brings significant executive experience, currently serving as Chair of the Chartered Association of Business Schools and a board member with Revenue Scotland.
Robert will be responsible for the leadership and management of research and innovation responsibilities across the University, and is a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive.
