University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has taken a further significant step forward in its commitment to community engagement and experiential learning.
The University is delighted to announce its collaboration with The King’s Foundation to enhance the academic experience for its students and staff as well also expanding its contribution to the social, cultural, and economic development of the region.
This represents an exciting opportunity to build upon the existing strengths of both UWS and The King’s Foundation. By working together, we can create new and innovative initiatives that benefit our students, staff, and the wider community. The Foundation’s headquarters at the Dumfries House estate offers a unique environment for experiential learning, while UWS has a wealth of expertise to offer across numerous disciplines. This collaboration will allow us to combine our strengths to enhance the educational experience for our students as well as advancing our placemaking ambitions. This further cements our role as an anchor institution in the region. We look forward to a fruitful working relationship with The King’s Foundation as a catalyst for positive change and innovation in the years to come.Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor James Miller
We are delighted to be working with the University of the West of Scotland to share creative ideas and ways to further our work. “Going forward we can merge with the expertise of UWS to further our educational and community engagement programmes. The early examples of collaboration demonstrate the potential for even greater impact.Simon Sadinsky, Executive Director of The King’s Foundation
Initial collaborations, such as UWS teacher education students participating in The King’s Foundation’s educational programmes, demonstrate the potential for this collaboration.
The collaboration lays the way for continued work in several key areas including rural/agricultural technology, digital industries – as demonstrated by UWS students’ recent filming of The King’s Foundation conference, health and wellbeing, and opportunities for joint research projects and professional development opportunities for The King’s Foundation staff through UWS’s postgraduate programs.
The University is delighted to further extend support to The King’s Foundation’s ongoing efforts to foster equality, diversity, and inclusivity at Dumfries House estate. This comprehensive approach underscores the commitment of both UWS and The King’s Foundation to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all.
