Intro to health testing and weight management
Body composition training
Includes an 8 skinfold measurements which can be used to estimate percentage body fat, along with 5 girth measurements, and weight and height.
Body composition is the measurement of body size and proportions. An ISAK (International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry) accredited member of staff would take measurements including: height and weight, skinfold thickness and circumferences.
Having an awareness of your body composition can be important for both health and performance, and can be used to track changes over time.
From a health perspective, having a body composition which is greater than normal has been shown to increase the likelihood of obesity-related diseases.
Yet, from an athlete’s perspective, having an optimal body composition for your sport can contribute to peak performance.
After your assessment, you will be provided with a detailed written report, with further verbal feedback if required.
Health Screening
Includes blood pressure, fasted blood sugar (glucose) measurement, resting metabolic rate, lung function test and a body composition profile
The Health Screening consists of a group of tests which will give you information on your health status. It is well known that having your blood pressure, blood sugar levels, body composition, lung function, and metabolic parameters within normal ranges reduces the susceptibility to diseases and conditions such as diabetes, coronary artery disease and asthma.
After your assessment, you will be provided with a detailed written report, with further verbal feedback if required.
Lung Function Test
Spirometry test to check function by measuring the flow of air, the size and volume of your lungs, and how efficiently they work.
Lung Function Tests (also known as pulmonary function tests) are a group of tests which measure how well your lungs work. Results can indicate early signs of lung disease and conditions such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis and asthma. These tests are used to look for the cause of breathing problems, such as shortness of breath. Please note that your data will be compared to normative values. We do not diagnose conditions.
After your assessment, you will be provided with a detailed written report, with further verbal feedback if required.
Resting Metabolic Rate
Includes measures of resting oxygen uptake and calculated substrate utilisation and resting energy requirements.
Measuring how much oxygen you utilise and carbon dioxide you produce whilst at rest can provide you with information to estimate your metabolic rate.
In addition it can be used to estimate the proportion of carbohydrates and fats that you use. The latter can be indicative of your health status.
After your assessment, you will be provided with a detailed written report, with further verbal feedback if required.
