The session will be delivered by a member of the UWS lecturing team in Broadcast Production who has extensive experience in the world of audio broadcasting as well as our audio technical assistant who is part of the Arts & Media Studio Team.

The session will be delivered by members of the UWS lecturing team in Commercial Music who have extensive experience in the music industry.
In this short session, staff from the BA (Hons) Commercial Music team at UWS will take you through the foundational principles of how money is made from music. We’ll look at the legal principle of copyright, how it works, and discuss how you may already have produced and own creative work which is eligible for copyright. From there, we’ll look at how owning creative work can lead to a range of sources of income for musicians, producers, and lyricists, and what you can do to make money from your music.
Below is some preparatory work to consider before you arrive at Lanarkshire, Paisley or Ayr campus.
