Conference for Early Career Scholars and Emerging Academics

Theme: Migration, Transnational Identit(ies) and Senses of Belonging

 

Conference Overview

This interdisciplinary conference organised by CMDCI London invites early career scholars, emerging academics, researchers, and students who conduct research around transnational identit(ies) and senses of belonging among diverse migrant’s groups to submit abstracts for our online conference on 12 September 2025. This conference aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration between early career scholars to address the complex issues surrounding migration, belonging, and making home among diverse migrant’s groups.

Call for papers

We invite any contribution that explores the transnational identit(ies) and senses of belonging among diverse migrant’s groups. The conference themes include:

  • Migration, Transnationalism and Development: Investigating the relationship between migration, transnationalism and sustainable development goals.
  • Conceptualising Home and Home Making in the context of Transnational Migration
  • Migration, Identity and Belonging
  • Role of Technology in development of Diaspora Communities and Social Inclusion
  • Innovations in Migration and Diaspora Policy Research: Analysing the effectiveness of current migration policies and exploring innovative policy solutions

Submission guidelines

We invite abstracts of no more than 300 words, outlining the research question, methodology, and key findings. Submissions should be sent by email to CMDCI@uws.ac.uk by June 30, 2025. All abstracts will be reviewed by the conference committee, and selected authors will be invited to present their papers at the conference.

Key submission dates

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: June 30, 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance: July 30, 2025
  • Conference Date: September 12, 2025

Conference Fees

  • Early Bird Registration: £10 (before Midnight GMT August 15th)
  • Standard Registration: £20 (from 16th August through to September 8th)
  • Master’s Students: Free

 

Registration

An online registration portal will be available, allowing participants to register, submit abstracts, and pay conference fees. Early bird discounts will be offered to encourage early registration, and free registration is offered for Masters students.
