The BSc (Hons) Town Planning programme offers students a unique opportunity to advance their careers through personal and professional development. This Workplace Learning programme, which follows the same format as a Graduate Apprenticeship, is designed to enhance town planning and management competence focusing on enhancing employability prospects by equipping learners with practical skills and knowledge.
This degree is tailored for those already working within relevant environments, providing the town planning expertise needed to effectively and efficiently manage their roles. The curriculum builds on specialised skills and knowledge students have developed during their employment, offering a seamless integration of academic learning with real-world application.
With forward-looking core modules across the programme, graduates are prepared to tackle contemporary planning challenges. The programme emphasises employability, industry engagement, and a pathway to professional accreditation, making it the ideal choice for shaping sustainable, vibrant communities and advancing your career.
Please note: as BSc (Hons) Town Planning is a Workplace Learning programme you need to be working in Scotland in a position that relates to the field of study and have support from your employer to undertake the course in its entirety.

These themes provide a comprehensive understanding of sustainable development, urban design, strategic impact assessment, and stakeholder collaboration. Together, these modules equip you with the knowledge and skills to address real-world challenges, create inclusive communities, and contribute to developing resilient, well-designed urban and rural spaces.
The programme is delivered through blended learning with the majority of the learning delivered through Work-based learning.
Students are expected to be on campus for one day every week during term time for facilitated workshops and practical sessions to reinforce their online e-learning and workplace experiential learning.
