Designed exclusively for students currently studying at college, UWS Advance aims to provide year-round support, guidance and information, all tailored to help you prepare for university-level study and life at UWS.

Year-Round Support in Three Stages

In addition to the wide range of programme benefits, you can access support at any point throughout your time at college by booking a one-to-one with a member of our dedicated UWS College Team or sending us your questions at collegeteam@uws.ac.uk.

UWS Advance is designed in three clear stages: 

You will be introduced to UWS and the support that we offer our students as well as the chance to explore the range of opportunities you can use your qualifications for, be that direct entry pathways with your HNC/D or the options you have with your SWAP course.

You will also:

  • Meet the UWS College Team at your college (college HE events, UWS College Team pop-up information stands or in-class presentations)
  • Be invited to upcoming events and workshops.
  • Receive monthly updates from the UWS College Team
  • Access to on-demand online toolkit and personal development resources
  • Opportunity to register as a UWS Associate Student (HNC/D only)
  • Advice and guidance around the UCAS application process
  • Join our UniBuddy and Facebook communities to connect with fellow college students

This stage will take you from post-UCAS application submission to the end of your college studies.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Build on your academic and study skills via resources and workshops
  • Learn more about funding your studies
  • Guidance on how to prepare for university
  • Opportunity to attend in-person events at UWS campuses and online sessions
  • UCAS guidance focused on responding to offers and late applications
  • Book a spot on a UWS campus tour
  • Chance to hear from current students who have joined UWS from college

You’ve accepted your offer and you’re joining us in September – we can’t wait to welcome you but don’t worry, the programme continues with:

  • Take part in summer on-campus transition events, exclusively for those joining us from college routes
  • Opportunity to gain extra credit through the UWS Next Steps to University Module*
  • Enhanced Induction experience
  • Additional guidance on enrolment and induction
  • Information on applying through UCAS Clearing
  • Introduction to Life at UWS,  societies, Team UWS and how to make the most of your time at university, outside of your academic learning
  • Last-minute resources to make sure you feel prepared and confident for beginning your studies in September

*This is an optional module delivered by UWS Associate Lecturing staff and would be dependent on demand
