The Bachelor of Accounting offers you, as a student, an opportunity to study towards a specialised degree which brings substantial professional accreditation and exemptions.
The programme covers a full range of accountancy subjects from financial and management accounting to financial management, taxation, auditing and ancillary areas ensuring the student acquires the necessary specialist and generic transferable skills relevant to a career in the field of accountancy.
The BAcc Accounting is accredited by all the major accountancy bodies including:
ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland)
CIFPA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy)

You will have the option to undertake a one-year placement during your course. This can either occur between the second and third year, or the third and fourth year. Placements provides essential practical experience and can boost your job prospects upon graduation.

Direct entry to Year 2 (with an appropriate HNC) and Year 3 (with an appropriate HND) may be possible.
Year 3 entry to this UWS programme is also offered at Ayrshire College, South Lanarkshire College and New College Lanarkshire (Coatbridge Campus) under our college partnership agreements. Please note that these routes are only open to students who have completed an HND in Accounting at those institutions. Students wishing to complete the Honours year will be required to attend either the Paisley or Lanarkshire campuses.

In line with the Academic Engagement and Attendance Procedure, Students are defined as academically engaged if they are regularly engaged with timetabled teaching sessions, course-related learning resources including those in the Library and on Moodle, Aula and complete assessments and submit these on time.

The on-time application deadline for 2024/25 entry is 31 January 2024, 18:00 (UK time). For some courses it may still be possible to apply beyond this period, subject to suitable vacancies remaining. The final deadline for late applications via UCAS is 30 June 2024. Beyond this deadline, you may be able to apply via ‘UCAS Clearing’ if the course you are interested in has remaining places.

The latest we can process your application is 6 weeks before the course start date to allow for visa processing times. To come to UWS as a visiting student on a study abroad or exchange programme, you must apply entirely through our online system.
An ATAS certificate is not required for overseas students applying for this course.
