Campus life
UWS incorporates four distinctive campuses situated in the west and south-west of Scotland: Ayr, Dumfries, Lanarkshire and Paisley, and one in central London.
Each campus location has its own individual character, architecture and social scene. Whether you choose an urban or rural environment, our campuses offer modern accommodation, varied extra-curricular activities and excellent teaching and study facilities.
Social life at UWS
The social side of university life is hugely important. Our Students’ Union won the University Students’ Association of the Year in the NUS (National Union of Students) Scotland Awards in both 2022 and 2023.
Life as a UWS student offers the opportunity to follow your passions, develop new interests and meet fascinating people.
Our Students’ Union is run for students by students. The Union organise and deliver a wide range of social and sporting events all year round. They campaign with you, and on your behalf, on the issues that really matter to you.
Study spaces
Each campus offers study spaces in the library, which include quiet areas for individual study and group study areas.
Catering
UWS catering outlets deliver the kind of relaxing environments on campus that are normally found on the high street.
Our facilities across the campuses have become a hub where our customers can socialise and relax. Delivering exceptional value for money, our outlets offer hot and cold items, and a range of confectionery products.
Student accommodation
Staying in University accommodation during your studies is a great way to meet new people, make new friends and gain some independence. You have the reassurance that our Residence Life team are always onsite for help and support.
Each UWS campus has a choice of accommodation on offer.
A variety of self-catered accommodation is available at our campuses in Ayr and Paisley in the form of shared flats or studios. All offer a safe and friendly environment close to main campus buildings and near to local amenities within the west of Scotland.
Students attending the UWS London Campus generally find their own accommodation, either in the form of a private let or privately managed residence.
A Banner number is required to make an application for accommodation. If you're a staff member or student of another institution wishing to stay with us, contact our residences team for further help and advice.
